Brother Don Fine’s brother-in-law, Ray Myers, has brain tumors and has been given less than a year to live.
Grand Knight John Hulme’s wife is currently in rehab following knee surgery.
Please remember them in your prayers.
If you know of a Brother Knight or a member of the family, sick or in distress, please let Jay Werling know. His contact information is at the bottom of this Knight Letter.
Identification:
We have a need to put a more public face on our Council. This will help us with identification and Council growth. Whenever you are participating in any parish activity - attending a meeting of any of the parish ministries, assisting at any parish function - if possible please wear Knights of Columbus identification (either a Council shirt or Council name tag). This will help put a public face on the Council and allow parishioners to know who we are and what we do.
Disability Membership:
The Supreme Council has arranged for disabled members, whether permanent or temporary, to be exempt from Council dues and per capita charges for the duration of the disability. If you are currently collecting either temporary or permanent total disability payments from the Veterans’ Administration, Social Security or Workmen’s Compensation, please notify the Financial Secretary, Jay Werling. He will tell you what documentation you need to provide so our Council can file this claim on your behalf.
Annual Dues Notices:
Our Council collects dues for the Fraternal Year (July through June). Therefore, annual dues notices were mailed in June. Please remit payment to the Financial Secretary, using the envelope provided with the dues notice. You may also bring your dues payment to the Council Meeting. Your Membership Card is only good for a three month grace period following the date shown. After this grace period, your Membership Card is no longer valid and you will not be admitted to a Council meeting until your dues are current.
The Financial Secretary is sending out Second Notices this month as a reminder for those members who have not remitted their dues.
Membership Cards:
Two comments are necessary about Membership cards.
First, the Supreme Council has determined that some former members are misusing the Honorary Life Membership cards issued to them. Therefore, the Supreme Council has directed that all Councils issue annual Membership cards to all Honorary Life Members on the Council Membership rolls.
Second, Membership cards for all members, Honorary Life, Disabled and those current in dues, will be available at the August Council Meeting. Please see the Financial Secretary for your Membership Card.
You may also pay your dues to the Financial Secretary on August 22nd.
Ocean County Chapter:
St. Theresa Council, our Council, will host the monthly meeting of the Ocean County Chapter here in our Faith Formation Center on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 8:00 PM. Please plan on attending this meeting and showing our support for the Ocean County Chapter of the Knights of Columbus. This meeting is limited to Third Degree members only and the dress is jacket and tie.
Fourth Degree Exemplification:
The Annual Fourth Degree Exemplification is scheduled for weekend of November 5-6, 2011 at the Sheraton in Eatontown. Currently, all Third Degree members of our Council are eligible to take the Fourth Degree. There is an attachment below which provides more information as well as the point of contact.
Fr. Mick’s Installation
Fr. Mick will be installed as Pastor of St. Theresa’s Parish at the 4:00 PM Mass on Saturday August 27th.
Brother Leo Rossetti is our liaison to the Installation Committee. He attends its meetings and represents our Council to it. Thus far, we have two requests for our support:
1.) On Friday, August 26, 2011, at 9:00 AM, we need twelve men to assist in erecting the small tents needed for Saturday.
2.) On Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 3:00 PM, we need twelve men, wearing our Council shirts, for traffic control. We will be directing cars as to where they should park for the Installation Mass and the reception following.
Please contact Leo if you are available to assist – 609-294-3780. He is waiting for your call.
As of the June Council Meeting, we have not been formally approached about our participation in the Installation and the festivities surrounding this event. We recognize that our eventual involvement will cost us both time and money. The Laws and Rules of the Order, as issued by the Supreme Council, limit the maximum amount a Council may spend, at any one meeting, on an event to $500.00. Amounts over that amount require that a resolution be submitted at one meeting and approved at a subsequent Business Meeting. At the June Business Meeting a resolution was submitted to allocate a maximum of $2,000.00 for our involvement in the Installation. Since we do not have a business meeting in July, we will vote final approval of this resolution at our August Business Meeting (August 22nd).
Past Grand Knights’ Dinner:
This year, our Past Grand Knights’ Dinner is scheduled for Friday, September 30, 2011. We will honor both Past Grand Knight Glenn Tooth and Past Grand Knight Jeffrey Kleinow. See the flyer attached for details.
Fund Raisers:
Currently three fund raisers are under way:
BUS TRIP TO ATLANTIC CITY:
The next bus trip, this time to the Hilton, scheduled for Tuesday, August 16, 2011, is sold out. Thanks to Brother Jack Murray for organizing this trip.
NAME BADGES:
The name badges have been ordered; the price is $11.00 for regular members and $12.00 for Fourth Degree members. See Jay Werling at the meeting for your badge.
New orders for name badges will be taken at all meetings. See Jay for this as well.
SHIRTS:
Brother Earl Lind is selling Council T-Shirts. The price is $10.00 a shirt.
Additionally our Council is considering other fund raisers throughout the upcoming Fraternal Year. These include a Television Raffle; Christmas Card sale; Spaghetti and/or Corned Beef dinners and additional bus trips to Atlantic City. For any and all of these fund raisers to be successful, we will need assistance from you, our Brother Members. For further information, attend our Council Meetings, read these monthly Knight Letters and watch the weekly Parish Bulletin.

Brother Leo Rossetti, who is in charge of the Interfaith Food Pantry, needs a computer and printer for the Food Pantry. If you have one or both and want to donate them, please contact Leo at 609-294-3780.
