Illness:
Brother Deacon Bill Sulzmann is having difficulties with a heart condition. Brother John Taaffe’s wife is ill. Please remember them in your prayers.
If you know of a Brother Knight, or a member of the family, sick or in distress, please let Jay Werling know. His contact information is at the bottom of this Knight Letter.
Identification:
We have a need to put a more public face on our Council. This will help us with identification and Council growth. Whenever you are participating in any parish activity - attending a meeting of any of the parish ministries, assisting at any parish function - if possible please wear Knights of Columbus identification (either a Council shirt or Council name tag). This will help put a public face on the Council and allow parishioners to know who we are and what we do.
Financial Secretary Vacancy:
Brother Jay Werling has volunteered to serve as Financial Secretary for our Council. Our Council Board of Trustees have met and have recommended his appointment by Supreme. His application has been forwarded to the Supreme Secretary for appointment.
Brother John Taaffe, our current Financial Secretary, will remain in that position until Jay is appointed.
Council Scholarship Program:
Annually, our Council gives scholarships to the children and grandchildren of our members. If your child or grandchild is graduating high school this June and pursuing post-secondary education, please complete the attached application and return it to the address indicated. Use a separate application for each child/grandchild.
Council Scholarships are awarded based on the number of eligible applicants and funds available. Scholarship funding comes from two sources: our annual spaghetti dinner and solicitation from our membership. See the next article about the spaghetti dinner. If you wish to directly contribute to our Scholarship Fund, see the form attached to this letter.
Spaghetti Dinner:
The Council’s Spaghetti Dinner Fund Raiser was a success. We raised over $1936.00 for our Scholarship Fund. Thanks to all who participated in this important Fund Raiser.
Pro-Life Fund Raiser:
Last weekend March 12-13, we distributed our Pro-Life Roses and collected funds for both the Parish Pro-Life Committee as well as the Council Pro-Life funds. We raised $584.84 from this collection.
Annual Membership Drive:
Our Council is holding its Annual Membership Drive at all the weekend Masses in June. We will have a table in the Gathering Space at all the Masses. Obviously, we need volunteers at all these Masses. These volunteers will need to wear either their pocket name tags or their Knights of Columbus shirts. If you can volunteer, please sign up at the Council meetings.
Fund Raisers:
Currently these three fund raisers are under way:
CASINO TRIP:
The next Bus Trip to Atlantic City, scheduled for Tuesday, March 29, 2011 is sold out. Thank you for your support.
